Nancy Cotterill

Vice President, Communications

UNITE INDY Co-Founder, Vice President and Chief Communications Officer Nancy Cotterill is an award winning editorial writer. Also a founder, she spent 20 years as Editor and Editorial Director of several magazines and newspapers and served as Publisher of Indianapolis Business Journal.

For five years, Nancy co-hosted a weekly business television program on WFYI-TV and reported weekly business news on WISH-TV on Monday mornings for several years. Her experience extends to radio as well and she brings her background in running large round table discussions to the UNITE INDY effort of initiating ongoing pubic forums and printed compilations of those subjects that focus on changing the picture in our highest poverty areas.

Following her husband’s spinal cord injury and her immersion into the world of the millions in the U.S. who depend upon accessibility, Nancy founded a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, People On Wheels, Inc. Her website, PeopleOnWheels.org became the No. 1 source of news and information for people in wheelchairs. She ran the organization, raised funds, and oversaw editing of daily information to the site for 10 years. The work was transferred to the Miss Wheelchair America organization who carries on much of the effort today.

Nancy Cotterill is co-author of the book, World-Changing Generosity. The book features inspiring stories of ordinary people who have changed lives through their extraordinarily generous acts. It is a hand-book for life- and world-changing ways we all can be generous in our lives, providing encouraging statistics, scientific revelations, and insightful research.
